چکیده

Generally, there are two approaches for solving the problem of human pose estimation from monocular images. One is the learning-based approach, and the other is the model-based approach. The former method can estimate the poses rapidly but has the disadvantage of low estimation accuracy. While the latter method is able to accurately estimate the poses, its computational cost is high. In this paper, we propose a method to integrate the learning-based and modelbased approaches to improve the estimation precision. In the learning-based approach, we use regression analysis to model the mapping from visual observations to human poses. In the model-based approach, a particle filter is employed on the results of regression analysis. To solve the curse of the dimensionality problem, the eigenspace of each motion is learned using Principal Component Analysis (PCA). Finally, the proposed method was estimated using the CMU Graphics Lab Motion Capture Database. The RMS error of human joint angles was 6.2 degrees using our method, an improvement of up to 0.9 degrees compared to the method without eigenspaces.

CAD Model-based 3D Object Pose Estimation using an Edge-Based Nonlinear Model Fitting Algorithm

This paper addresses the design of a model-based 3D object pose estimation algorithm, which is one of the major techniques to develop a robust robotic vision system using a monocular camera. The proposed system first extracts line features of a captured image by using edge detection and Hough transform techniques. Given a CAD model of the object-of-interest, the 6-DOF pose of the object can the...

An Augmented Reality Based User Interface Model for Full Body Interaction using Monocular 3D Pose Estimation

In this paper, we present a conceptual design of augmented reality full body interaction based on monocular 3D pose estimation. The proposed design is based on 3D pose estimation from the image of user’s motions captured by a monocular camera and the processing of 3D human poses for augmented reality applications. Based on the method, a 3D human full body model is constructed. The silhouettes e...

Augmented Reality with Human Body Interaction Based on Monocular 3D Pose Estimation

We present an augmented reality interface with markerless human body interaction. It consists of 3D motion capture of the human body and the processing of 3D human poses for augmented reality applications. A monocular camera is used to acquire the images of the user’s motion for 3D pose estimation. In the proposed technique, a graphical 3D human model is first constructed. Its projection on a v...

Human Context: Modeling Human-Human Interactions for Monocular 3D Pose Estimation

Automatic recovery of 3d pose of multiple interacting subjects from unconstrained monocular image sequence is a challenging and largely unaddressed problem. We observe, however, that by tacking the interactions explicitly into account, treating individual subjects as mutual “context” for one another, performance on this challenging problem can be improved. Building on this observation, in this ...

Integration of bottom-up/top-down approaches for 2D pose estimation using probabilistic Gaussian modelling

In this paper, we address the recovery of human 2D postures from monocular image sequences. We propose a novel pose estimation framework which is based on the integration of probabilistic bottom-up and top-down processes which iteratively refine each other: foreground pixels are segmented using image cues whereas a hierarchical 2D body model fitting constraints body partitions. Its main advanta...
